The Kado

THE KADO IS A LIVING ARCHIVE

It is a metaphysical force that allows its possessor to travel through time using ancient objects as portals—an ancestral energy that binds memory to matter. Objects touched by it become charged, living archives, storing the experiences, pain, and intent of their previous owners.

Through it, time is not studied; it is felt. Each possession carries a memory, and each memory carries a consequence. When the Kado calls to its host, history does not simply return—it demands to be reckoned with.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO…

It’s 2005 in New Orleans. Ten-year-old twins Nova and Freya Quibidough lose their parents in a tragic car accident and are taken in by their eccentric aunt, Gentilly. She raises them in her apartment above the antique shop she co-owns with Cyril Dauphin—but the girls are never allowed inside the store.

Not because it’s dangerous, but because it’s alive.

Gentilly knows the objects inside can awaken the girls’ powers too soon.

15 YEARS LATER…

Now on the brink of adulthood, the sisters have grown into opposite worlds—Nova obsessed with order and logic, Freya chasing comedy, chaos, and creativity. Everything changes when Gentilly disappears and, for the first time, leaves Nova a letter instructing both girls to come work in the shop in her absence.

It’s strange. Unsettling. And it immediately puts Nova and Cyril at odds, as Nova begins to suspect he knows more than he’s saying.

Once inside the shop, the voices begin. Whispers from the objects. Memories that are not their own. The Kado has awakened.

And without Gentilly to guide them, Cyril must convince Nova he’s innocent while helping the sisters survive their first uncontrolled jumps through time.
